Richard Gorlick, M.D., is the Division Head and Department Chair of Pediatrics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Children's Cancer Center Hospital. An internationally recognized expert in pediatric oncology and hematology and a pediatric cancer survivor himself, Dr. Gorlick committed his life’s work to helping young patients and their families. For more than two decades, his research and clinical efforts have focused on sarcomas, tumors that grow in connective tissues including the bones, muscles, tendons and cartilage. Dr. Gorlick has published more than 240 peer-reviewed papers, reviews and book chapters. Prior to joining MD Anderson, Dr. Gorlick served as Division Chief of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology and Vice Chairman of Pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, and Professor of Pediatrics and Molecular Pharmacology at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Gorlick began his sarcoma research laboratory at Memorial Sloan-Kettering where he remained as a faculty member for eight years prior to joining Montefiore and Einstein. Dr. Gorlick has been involved with Happiness Is Camping since 1993 and was its Medical Director from 1998-2016. He currently holds the position of Medical Director Emeritus.
